Poland still has a plethora of successful companies attracting the attention of new investors.

One of those is the Polish startup Infermedica which created a medical guidance platform offering AI-powered solutions to pre-diagnose symptoms and direct patients to proper medical services. Thanks to the automation of the process, medical treatment is more accessible. The company launched in 2012, and since that more than 30 countries in 19 languages have used the platform.

Recently the startup has raised $30 million in Series B funding. The round included the lead of One Peak and previous investors Karma Ventures, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Heal Capital, and Inovo Venture Partners. Summing up, the startup has raised $45 million in total.

Infermedica CEO Piotr Orzechowski said that the investment will help to develop their medical platform and add new modules to create expanded, fully automated solutions for patients. Concerning that, Infermedica plans to double the team in the next 12 months.

A successful agreement with an external investor also announced one of the fastest-growing software companies in Europe VirtusLab from Cracow. Aquiline Capital Partners, a private investment company based in New York and London, became a significant shareholder of VirtusLab, but existing management will maintain ownership in the company.

VirtusLab is a software development and consulting company specializing in cloud-native, data science, reactive systems, data engineering, and front-end development. Currently it employs over 300 people.
