Now Is the Right Time to Start a Business in Poland: Future Tech Poland Fund Officially Launched
January 20, 2026
If you are considering starting a business or scaling an innovative company in Poland, now is an especially good moment. Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego and the European Investment Fund have officially inaugurated Future Tech Poland, a new fund valued at PLN 1.5 billion (EUR 325 million), designed to strengthen Poland’s innovation ecosystem and attract private capital to high-growth technology companies.
Innovation at Scale
Future Tech Poland is a core pillar of the Innovate Poland program, announced in November 2025. The initiative aims to stimulate the growth of domestic innovative companies, address the financing gap faced by start-ups and SMEs, and encourage private equity and venture capital investors to engage more actively in the Polish market.
“At the heart of Innovate Poland, the agreement between BGK and EIF establishes the Future Tech Poland fund, valued at PLN 1.5 billion. The goal of this project is not only to increase investment volume but also to strengthen the VC ecosystem and Poland’s role as a hub for innovation,” said Mirosław Czekaj, President of BGK, at the fund’s launch.
Public and Private Capital Working Together
Two-thirds of the fund’s capital is provided by BGK, while the remaining PLN 0.5 billion (EUR 108 million) comes from the European Investment Fund. FTP will invest primarily in portfolio venture capital funds and, on a smaller scale, venture debt funds.
“Today, we are building a bridge between Poland’s strategic ambitions and the scale of Europe. Poland is ready to take the next leap. Over the past decade, we have seen Polish companies such as Brainly, Booksy, ICEYE, and ElevenLabs make their mark on global markets. But to turn this potential into leadership, we need larger funds and more institutional management of high-quality investment vehicles,” said Patric Gresko, Head of Division for Institutional Relationships in CEE, Baltics & Nordics at EIF.
Up to PLN 5 Billion for Technology Companies
According to BGK estimates, scaling the supported funds could generate a total investment pool of up to PLN 5 billion (EUR 1.08 billion). Investments are expected to reach approximately 150–200 technology companies across the seed, start-up, later-stage venture, and growth capital phases, primarily in Central and Eastern Europe.
Inspired by a Proven European Model
The Innovate Poland program was announced in late 2025 by Andrzej Domański, Minister of Finance and the Economy, and is inspired by France’s Tibi Plan, a successful start-up support mechanism developed by economist Philippe Tibi. Since its launch in 2019, investors in France have committed EUR 13 billion, with a target of EUR 15 billion by the end of 2026, significantly boosting the private equity and venture capital markets.
As part of Innovate Poland, private equity and venture capital funds are expected to invest at least PLN 4 billion (EUR 870 million) in around 250 Polish companies. The initiative is the first in Poland to combine public and private capital on such a large scale and serves as a strategic response to the financing gap faced by start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises.
