Poland Becomes EIB’s TechEU Hub with New Investment

November 18, 2025

The European Investment Bank (EIB) Group has announced a major expansion of its support for technological innovation in Poland.

On 14 November 2025, the bank unveiled a three-pronged initiative: it is joining the national “Innovate Poland” investment-mobilisation programme, extending a significant loan to a cutting-edge AI firm, and launching a new digital platform with the Polish Development Fund (PFR) to help startups access capital and investors.

Future Tech Poland Fund

The European Investment Fund (EIF), part of the EIB Group, will allocate PLN 500 million and manage the new Future Tech Poland fund-of-funds. With an additional PLN 1 billion from Poland’s Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK), the fund will reach PLN 1.5 billion to boost venture capital investments in high-growth Polish startups under the national “Innovate Poland” programme.

Beyond providing new resources and boosting the local venture capital and startup market, Future Tech Poland will significantly scale Polish venture capital funds. As stated in the agreement between the EIF and Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, the first projects are expected to be approved this year, with full programme implementation by the end of 2027.

Investment in Polish Deep-Tech

Additionally, the EIB will provide a €25 million venture debt loan to Synerise, a leading Polish deep-tech firm specializing in advanced AI, big data, and real-time technologies. The funds will support a €54 million program for next-generation AI-driven behavioral analysis technology and international expansion into Europe, North America, and the Middle East.

This financing granted to Synerise, one of the most renowned technology startups in Central and Eastern Europe, aligns with the EIB Group’s mission to promote innovative, sustainable development and a knowledge-based economy as part of a globally competitive Europe.

As CEO and Founder of Synerise, Jarosław Królewski, said:

“Partnering with the EIB is a milestone for both Synerise and the EU innovation ecosystem. It confirms that deep-tech built on scientific rigour and top-tier AI can be developed in Europe and compete globally. With EIB support, we can accelerate our AI research and strengthen our international presence. Our example proves that technology, developed responsibly, can positively influence the way organisations and societies make decisions.”

Digital Platform Partnership

The Polish Development Fund (PFR) has become the EIB Group’s first national partner for its TechEU Investment Readiness Checker online platform. This digital one-stop shop, which has already registered over 800 startups, helps innovative ventures and investors connect, facilitating access to capital and advisory services across the EU.

“PFR’s involvement in the EIB Group platform is an important step in building a strong innovation ecosystem in the country. The new platform will help ambitious entrepreneurs quickly find suitable investors and funding – not only domestically, but across Europe. This will give Polish startups easier access to capital, advisory services, and partnerships essential for developing modern technologies and a knowledge-based economy,” emphasized PFR President and CEO Piotr Matczuk about their collaboration.
