Poland in Talks to Host Web Summit Conference

December 16, 2025

Poland is in negotiations to host the major Web Summit technology conference, currently held in Lisbon, Portugal, with Warsaw emerging as the leading candidate, according to Deputy Digital Affairs Minister Rafal Rosiński.

Polish officials are discussing relocating the key global tech event to Poland after the existing agreement with Lisbon runs through the end of 2028. Rosiński acknowledged the discussions involve high costs but argued that the benefits, particularly attracting investors and strengthening Poland’s tech profile, could make the effort worthwhile.

While no official host city has yet been chosen, Warsaw has “the greatest chances,” Rosiński said, with Kraków and Gdańsk also under consideration. He noted that decisions will likely depend on factors like hotel availability and international transport links.

To further underscore his point, Rosiński emphasized Poland’s position as Central Europe’s largest and fastest-growing tech market.

“We are the largest country in Central Europe, the most innovative, and the fastest-developing from the point of view of start-ups. In our and the organizers’ view, it would be a very attractive location.”

Moreover, at the latest edition of the event in 2025, Poland featured one of its largest booths since it began attending. 30 companies showcased together at the Polish stand to present the country’s tech ecosystem. It is therefore no surprise that Poland is considered one of the strongest candidates to host the event in the future.

Web Summit has taken place in Portugal since 2016 and brings together tens of thousands of participants, including startups, investors, and global tech leaders. In addition to the Web Summit talks, the minister said Poland is also in discussions to host GITEX, another prominent international technology fair.
