Even though it’s currently summer break in Polish schools, the students are on the rise and not slowing down! In our recent update, we reported on Poland ranking 4th globally at the International Mathematical Olympiad, and now we bring fresh news from two major Informatics Olympiads.
2025 International Olympiad in Informatics
This year’s International Olympiad in Informatics took place in Bolivia. The event gathered 330 participants from 84 countries. Poland was represented by four students, who collectively achieved outstanding results.
Poland secured one gold medal, two silver medals, and one bronze medal. Notably, the youngest member of the Polish team earned the bronze medal – a remarkable achievement at such a young age. The team was accompanied by two mentors, including a scientific advisor and a parent of one of the participants.
What is worth mentioning is that in the all-time IOI medal standings, Poland holds 5th place globally in terms of gold medals (45), and ranks 2nd in the world by total medal count with 135 medals in total!
5th European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics
Earlier in July, the 5th edition of the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) took place in Bonn, Germany. Despite its name, the event welcomed teams from 60 countries across all inhabited continents, including 7 participating remotely.
The Polish girls’ team delivered a spectacular performance, winning two gold and two silver medals. The winner of the competition was a Polish student, who also became a four-time medalist in EGOI history.
With a total of 11 gold, 7 silver, and 2 bronze medals across all five editions of the EGOI, Poland ranks first in the overall medal table of the competition.
Huge congratulations to both teams! With these results, we can be more confident than ever in the strength of Polish education and the bright future ahead.
