At the beginning of October, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Poland’s Ministry of Digital Affairs (MDA) signed an important Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking a new stage in their partnership on cybersecurity and emerging technologies. This agreement builds on the long-standing relationship between the two countries, setting the stage for enhanced cooperation in policy development and operational strategies to tackle digital threats. 

Areas of Collaboration

The MOU outlines several critical areas for collaboration, including the development of cybersecurity policies, strategies based on “Secure by Design” principles, information sharing, incident response coordination, human resource development, and innovation in emerging technologies. Special focus has been placed on the secure development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, which are becoming essential pillars of future cybersecurity frameworks.

DHS Under Secretary for Policy, Robert Silvers, emphasized the significance of this partnership as a step forward in strengthening global cybersecurity efforts. He expressed pride in signing the agreement with Poland, referring to the country as a “valued ally.” Silvers also highlighted the importance of such international collaborations in ensuring the security of critical infrastructures and tackling shared digital challenges:

“Through our strong public-private partnerships, DHS is the key link domestically for cybersecurity and critical infrastructure, and we’re increasingly becoming that link for global partners facing similar threats. I am proud to sign this MOU with such a valued partner as Poland.”

On Poland’s side, MDA Under Secretary Rafał Rosiński stressed the importance of close cooperation with trusted allies in the face of complex and evolving digital threats.
